Mr. Gibson was the Bar President of the third largest county bar association in the state of Illinois totaling over 900 members. The Lake County Bar Association is headquartered in Waukegan, Illinois, and is an active and vigorous advocate on behalf of lawyers, judges, all people who require legal representation, and provide high-quality, effective legal education to its members and the community as a whole. As Bar President, Mr. Gibson was “the face” of the organization, and was the major spokesperson on behalf of the Lake County Board of Directors to communicate with other legal organizations, the public at large, media, and to answer questions and concerns about legal issues that arise throughout the year.
Lake County Bar Association Foundation
During Mr. Gibson's tenure as Lake County Bar Association President he resurrected the Lake County Bar Association Foundation which had not been active for over forty years. The LCBF is the sister organization to the LCBA which provides legal education, fundraising and charitable distribution of scholarships and awards to deserving law students and legally related organizations. Over the past two years the LCBF has become extremely active in distributing tens of thousands of dollars of charitable giving through the Lake County and Illinois state community. The second annual LCBA black tie gala will be held on November 18, 2011 at the historic Genesee Theater in Waukegan, Illinois. This has already proven to be a spectacular success in raising funds and giving recognition to deserving Bar Foundation members. Additionally, the LCBF is charted to be able to eventually purchase a permanent building which will be the home for both the LCBA and LCBF and provide a lasting and impressive living monument to our legal community.
